For over three decades, SMS has been a leader in the Federal Government marketplace providing innovative solutions to our customers. Examples of these solutions include:
- The first mass deployment of personal computers to the United States Army in 1985 via an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract.
- The introduction of the first Cisco router to the Department of Defense.
- The first mention of the word "Internet and internetworking" was found in a Washington Post article about an Air Force contract awarded to SMS in 1988.
- Building of the first Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network in the Washington Metropolitan area.
