President’s Awards – 3rd Quarter 2024

Each month via SPOTLIGHT, our employee engagement platform, SMS President Matt Rosecan recognizes employees who demonstrate our values of collaboration, commitment, and creativity. Congratulations to the third quarter 2024 President’s Award recipients, Karen Brown, John Keeble, and Jerry Flammang!

Karen Brown was awarded July’s President’s Award. She has been with SMS for nearly a dozen years and now supports DoD for the past several years working with our customer to help manage their multimillion-dollar budget and oversee their 100 Joint and Army requirements. In July, Karen received an exceptional write-up from our customer for her outstanding work and dedication, stating that Karen “exemplifies dedication and commitment in her role. Ms. Brown’s unwavering focus on providing exceptional customer service has been a cornerstone of her time here. Ms. Brown’s ability to manage complex requirements, coupled with her proactive problem-solving skills, has significantly enhanced the operational abilities of the DoD. Ms. Brown’s steadfast dedication to services and excellence underscores her invaluable contribution to the success of the mission. ” Thank you, Karen for your fantastic work!

Hats off to John Keeble for earning August’s President’s Award for exemplifying our values of creativity, collaboration, and commitment. John is a key member in support of the Air Force as our Lead Systems Engineer. In less than two and a half years on the program John has made a big impression with his technical expertise and leadership, garnering several customer recognitions as well as a promotion; John makes his team and our customer better. I’d like to also congratulate John for the birth of his twins, Madison and Mackenzie. With twins, John, I’m sure you’ve already figured out that triple tasking (at least) is the order of the day. (One example of this “might” be holding the babies, talking on the phone, and watching television.) Thank you for everything you do for our customer and our team and, more importantly, Congratulations to you and Amy!

SMS is pleased to recognize Jerry Flammang with September’s President’s Award for exemplifying our values of creativity, collaboration, and commitment. Jerry has been with SMS for just over two years supporting the Air Force. He has performed an outstanding job as our Configuration Manager, often going above and beyond his official role by providing technical assistance to our service provider (Lumen) and SMS service desk technicians to resolve critical service incidents. The network is deployed at two dozen training sites and was identified as the commercial wireless internet service to expand learning opportunities and benefit the flying and technical training community. Jerry’s efforts have resulted in the hard-wired integration of AMF-S operational training devices at several locations supporting crew fundamental training for 900 undergraduate pilot training (UPT) students per year. Thank you, Jerry. Outstanding work!
